SsangYong e-XIV – Range Extender EV set for Paris

SsangYong e-XIV – Range Extender EV set for Paris

Remember SsangYong’s XIV-2 concept from Geneva? It looks like the ‘convertible’ crossover utility vehicle is changing tack to a different route for Paris. Instead of the petrol and diesel mills seen in the former, the upcoming debutant is taking on a ‘Range Extender EV’ tack.

The e-XIV (electric – eXciting user Interface Vehicle) is a design extension of what the company is envisioning for its XIV series. No details about the powertrain, with Ssangyong only stating that the e-XIV is self-chargeable by utilising a small petrol engine.

There’s a glass roof, which provides enhanced visibility for passengers, and the vehicle features roof-mounted solar cell panels, which supplies free solar energy, though again, there’s no mention of what it powers on the vehicle. Other that that, the 4.16 metre-long e-XIV is very much a XIV-2 in terms of dimensions and shape.
