SPYSHOTS: 2018 Honda HR-V facelift seen in Malaysia

The facelifted Honda HR-V has been spotted on Malaysian roads by paultan.org reader Anthony Look, ahead of a possible launch this year. Unlike a previous sighting, this white example is virtually undisguised, although it does look a bit peculiar.

At the back, we see a chrome strip linking the taillights, which is a cue associated with the facelifted model. However, the design of the taillight graphics still follows the pre-facelift HR-V, and differs from tube-type LEDs seen on the Japanese-market car.

Meanwhile at the front, it’s again a bit of mixed bag, with the new daytime running lights being clearly visible to us. Look around, and you’ll realise the facelifted bumper (with new lamp enclosures) is not present here nor is the thicker chrome bar on the grille.

The range-topping variant should come with the new LED headlamp design similar to the latest Accord and Civic, although lower-spec variants now appear to gain LED daytime-running lights. For now, this is likely a mule that is still fitted with a few pre-facelift items, and may not fully represent what we’ll actually get. Looking forward to launch of the facelifted HR-V?

Why are there no tube LED rear lights on the facelift ? The pre-facelift tail lights look awful.

Best selling small SUV in the market. Everywhere got HRV. This means big money for DRB. No wonder DRB got no time and energy to improve Proton brand before Geely took over.

They were too busy reaping profits from the Honda brand.

that LED strip on the headlights looks so aftermarket, while the rear lights remain unchanged. Where dat nice red LED strips go?

I’m much more interested on the 10th gen Accord. Wonder when HM will bring it to our shores..

I was fortunate enough to be part of a (Geely?) comparison exercise as a consumer. Was done in Jakarta so that’s why I’m wondering if it was a Geely exercise.

They put up the HRV, the CRV, and the CX5 up against the Boyue with badges covered up. They explained that the CRV and CX5 were “spec competitors”, while the HRV was a “marketing competitor”.

Must say the Boyue was right up there with the Japanese. The CRV disappointed with the NVH and plasticky gear shift, while the CX5 was very refined. HRV to me was nowhere near on terms of looks and specs. The larger Japanese SUVs had competitive specs to the Boyue, and I think at the right price, it can sell.

The ONLY thing different I can see is the 2 tone color of the seat especially the Brown(presumably leather).
