Perodua launches P-Circle super app – P Duit e-wallet for EV chargers, P Charge home camera, smartwatch

Perodua launched something today, but it’s not a car. P-Circle is described as a super app that moves P2 closer towards incorporating Mobility as a Service (MaaS). You’ll get the most of the app if you’re an owner of Perodua’s upcoming EV, but one of the key components of the P-Circle app is the P-Duit e-wallet, which can be used for all transactions.

“The P-Circle offers mobility as a lifestyle as all these offerings covers a significant portion of our online services engagement under one super app. This diversification into tech-based business is in line with our future direction and the auto industry’s future in terms of convergence with consumer preference towards connecting their vehicles, and even homes with the internet,” said Perodua president and CEO Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

“We foresee that this convergence to only grow stronger in the years to come, and we want to prove that we can innovate by providing all the services our customers’ needs before they ask for them – which is in line with our ‘We Go Beyond’ philosophy. A key component in MaaS is to offer drivers flexible solutions based on their travel needs and the package that we are offering fits right into that description,” the P2 chief added.

As mentioned, a major feature of the P-Circle app the P-Duit e-wallet, powered by Fasspay. While anyone can use this to pay for anything, owners of Perodua’s first-ever EV – scheduled to launch later this year – will find it particularly useful as P2 has agreements in place with all charging point operators for them to accept P-Duit payments.

Another novel feature in P-Circle is P-Guardian, which is a surveillance app offered together with P-Charge (P2’s EV home charger), where EV owners can monitor the condition of their home via the camera embedded in the wallbox. There’s also P Vehicle for the EV. The remote-control module has features such as on/off, location tracking, air-con control and lock/unlock. P-Charge Mobile sends over crew for emergency charging.

There’s even a P-Go smartwatch with health data, which is on sale at P2 service centres. Other features include P-Calendar, P-Marketplace (only official P2 spare parts and accessories in Phase 1), P-Chat, P-Entertainment (OTT streaming of local content), P-Home and P-Map (navigation). Why use P-Circle? There’s a carrot, of course – P-Reward offers points.

You can download Perodua’s P-Circle app from the Apple App Store and Google Play. Perodua’s current UFirst app will continue to function for now, but we understand that users would eventually have to migrate to P-Circle.
