The area around KLIA is going to see quite a bit of traffic diversions in the coming week – besides those that will be in place for the 47th ASEAN Summit this October 26-28, the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) will also be hosting the Malaysian round of the Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix 2025 on October 24-26, which means that attendees can expect to face traffic control measures as they make their way in and out of the three-day MotoGP event.
According to the Bukit Aman traffic investigation and enforcement department (JSPT), a number of traffic diversions will be implemented for the SIC entry and exit routes throughout the period. Its director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said 177 officers from the department will be assigned to strategic locations to assist in traffic control, as Bernama reports.
In a statement, he said that visitors going to SIC may use the entrance route via the KLIA Mosque Roundabout towards the SIC parking area, or via the KLIA Quarters traffic lights if coming from the direction of Sepang, Enstek, Labu and Nilai. They can also use the route via the KLIA Cargo Roundabout to Jalan Pekeliling towards the SIC parking lot.
To exit from the SIC, spectators can use the route from the SIC parking lot towards the SIC traffic lights, then turn right towards Jalan Kuarters KLIA towards Sepang and Enstek. Motorists can also use the route exiting the SIC parking area towards the Bukit Tinjau traffic lights before turning left towards Jalan Pekeliling and then onwards to the Cargo roundabout.
He called on motorists to cooperate fully and plan their journey in advance to avoid the expected congestion.
