The aerotrain service at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 will be halted from 9pm to 7am daily for inspection and rectification works, reported Free Malaysia Today.
The nightly shutdown of the aerotrain service is part of a comprehensive technical plan aimed at resolving issues which have afflicted the train service at the airport since it resumed service, said Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) managing director Izani Ghani.
“Full bus services will be deployed during the shutdown to ferry passengers between the main terminal and the satellite building. We anticipate this work will take about four weeks or a month or so, up to December 15,” he said.
The revised hours of shutdown for the aerotrain follows the initial announcement for nightly inspection and rectification works, which was previously announced to be from 12am to 5am nightly.
According to FMT, deputy transport minister Hasbi Habibollah previously said that 19 minor incidents involving the aerotrain were recorded between July 2 and September 30, and these involved the signalling system, as well as cases where passengers attempted to manually open the train doors, among other issues.
The provider of the aerotrain system could face a fine of up to RM190,000 for every month it fails to ensure that the trains operate at the optimum level, the deputy transport minister said.
The aerotrain in its present form resumed service in July this year, after its suspension in March 2023 as a precautionary measure following a major breakdown. Following a spate of breakdowns since its July 2025 return to service, the transport ministry directed Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) in August to continuously monitor and maintain the aerotrain.

Loke as minister of mahb should take responsibility, no wait sorry Loke isnt the minister or ceo of mahb
klia ekspres operated by ytl , seems fine reliable no problem. klia aerotrain operated by mahb/pestech so many problems. why?
The train has been here for a long time already and it does not need rocket science to make it work. So it’s obvious that a lot of hanky panky is happening behind the scene, and should be easy for MACC to find something. And end of the day, another good publicity for malaysia after 1mdb
Hmnm.. now that we heard from MAHB MD, i hope he will continue to update the media and public of their progress and achievement. please keep the good name of MAHB intact. if this MD is able to turn around this issues, it is great hope for us that MAHB will be able to rectify issues at other airport managed by MAHB.
If the that works and monitor the progress of this effort is the MD, then what he says and promise have more weight than what a Minister from MoT can promise… because this MD have direct control of the company’s action and assessment. MoT is just able to monitor and report from outside. cannot promise anything meaningful. so Anthony Loke instruct PIC in MAHB to face the media and public. Loke should represent the people and scrutinize this media and public releases. that’s the way to work!
World class in breakdown and world class in nightly inspection. Buat malu la Malaysian Airport. Baru start tahun ini already too many breakdowns. What’s going to happen in the next 5 years? The case mention is only minor, but minor can lead to major. No compensation for passengers? What a load of bull.
So it’s closed nearly half the time, everyday? Good lah, kita boleh
Stupidly plus corruption at its level bests and world is enjoying it
