The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has released vehicle sales data for the month of October 2025, reporting that a total of 75,992 units were delivered to buyers last month. This represents an increase of 30%, or 17,502 units, from the 58,490 units sold in September. It also made October the month with the highest monthly sales figure for the year to date.
According to the association, the swell was attributed to a rush by consumers to purchase CBU battery EVs after the Budget 2026 announcement did not mention any extension of the CBU EV tax exemption, which comes to a conclusion at the end of December. It added that another factor was the aggressive year-end promotional campaigns carried out by automotive companies.
October’s numbers are also a 6% (or 4,307 units) improvement over the same month in 2024, where 71,685 units of passenger and commercial vehicles were shifted. As for the year-to-date (YTD) figure, the 2025 total into the 10th month of the year stands at 655,328 vehicles sold, which has closed the gap to just under 2% behind the corresponding period in 2024, when 667,568 units were delivered.
For the month of November 2025, the association said it anticipates the sales momentum to carry on from September, as demand for fully-imported EVs continue until the end of the year.
