First sighted here in camouflaged form back in February 2024, it looks like Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) is finally set to launch the Mitsubishi Xforce in Malaysia, with fully uncovered examples of the B-segment SUV spotted being offloaded a transporter in Shah Alam by reader Derek Ng.
When it arrives, the ASEAN-specific Xforce – which made its global debut in Indonesia in August 2023 – will fill the void left by the ASX, which was quietly pulled off the market a couple of years ago.
Measuring in at 4,390 mm long, 1,810 mm wide and 1,660 mm tall, with a 2,650 mm wheelbase, it sits in between the Honda HR-V and Toyota Corolla Cross in size, and it’s also marginally larger than the recently-launched Perodua Traz and Yaris Cross.
Exterior-wise, the Xforce more than holds its own against the competing SUV crowd from a styling perspective, with design highlights including a floating roof, muscular fender flares and T-shaped signatures for the front and rear lighting.
Inside, the SUV is dressed with an angular fabric-covered, low-set dashboard and a set of screens, these being an 8.0-inch unit for the instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto comes as standard, and higher-end versions feature an eight-speaker Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium sound system, although it remains to be seen how many variants will be sold here.
Whatever the number, the single exhaust on the units denotes that all will be getting the same engine as seen in other regional markets, in this case the 4A91 1.5 litre naturally-aspirated MIVEC four-cylinder mill, as seen on the Xpander. With 105 PS at 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, output is identical to the MPV, but unlike the latter, the Xforce uses a CVT instead of a four-speed automatic transmission.
The Xforce features Mitsubishi’s patented Active Yaw Control (AYC) which adjusts the driving force between the two front wheels, and there’s a Wet driving mode to improve cornering and stability on wet roads during rain and on flooded roads.
For safety, the ASEAN NCAP five-star rated SUV gets six airbags and a comprehensive array of driver assist systems, including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control (ACC), automatic high beam (AHB), blind spot warning (with lane change assist function) and rear cross traffic alert (RCTA).

Me: I want a affordable RWD compact sedan with decent ground clearance, a Spare Tire, a 6-speed manual, NO big screens, With Air-cons and a radio controlled with buttons and switches, and it’s powered by a Turbocharged i4 Engine.
Automakers: We heard, We listened, we will make sure to manufacture cars for car enthusiasts and for people who just want an affordable car.
Also Automakers: Here is your All-New compact FWD SUV with a CVT, with big screens, apple car play, Android Auto, and the car is powered by a NA i4 hybrid and power is send to the Front wheels only, by a CVT. Don’t forget to pay for the subscriptions…hehe
Me: then where is the spare tire that I asked for?
Automakers: ¯\_༼ •́ ͜ʖ •̀ ༽_/¯ looks like you need to pay RM 800 dollars extra for that dear..hehe
Me: ಠ_ಠ
you are in the minority. most actual buyers will choose a mpv or suv.
Me personally
People will buy because here in Malaysia due to the High ridiculous Roadtax and insurance on Foreign Brands, we basically don’t have many choices here.
It’s not like in European Countries where they got Skoda, Lancia, Dacia, Opel, Renault, Jeep, Fiat and other cool brands, here our market is small, and it’s also unfair for foreign Brands to compete here…thanks to our Gomen
Imposing high tax and Insurance on foreign Brands….just to protect our soulless
Potong and Poorudak.
So end up, we have basically have no choice and are forced to buy cars from our soulless
Potong and Poorudak
The next time you read our Malaysia news saying “Proton Sales up 60%” ,
“Perodua Bezza is best selling sedan in Malaysia” , “Perodua EV beats BYD Dolphin to become best selling EV in Malaysia” ,
Just know that this is only in Malaysia
Only in Malaysia
how ironic because all the brands you mentioned – Skoda, Lancia, Dacia, Opel, Renault, Jeep, Fiat – are already defunct or on the verge of brankruptcy.
New Protons are a much more affordable option – more bang for buck and cheaper to maintain
