Say hello to the 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross HEV GR Sport, which gains small but effective visual updates over the 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross HEV GR Sport that debut in late 2024 at KLIMS. No big changes to what has become a popular SUV, but the few updates gives the GR Sport sportier looks.

The most obvious one is the new grille. Gone are the ‘wings’ flanking the Toyota emblem, and the entire insert is now in a honeycomb design. Helping the nose stand out more is the deletion of the frame of the grille, which has little wings of its own that integrates with the headlamp cluster – this is now in body colour, which allows the grille to ‘float’. The front grille now has a GR logo, in addition to those on the sides and rear.

Lower down, the ‘skid plate’ now does without the three bar design. The rear skid plate does away with the fussy design of before and now sports a simpler, ‘vented’ look. The rear Corolla Cross emblem is now in black (was chrome). UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) says that the black roof is now standard with all colours, which are Platinum White Pearl, Dark Turquoise and Red Mica Metallic.

It’s the same inside, where the 2026 CC GR-S adds a few small but effective sporty touches. The sporty flagship variant’s black interior had red stitching on the steering wheel, gear boot and seats – the racy colour is now extended to the dashboard and door cards for a more uniformed look (the latter two parts had white stitching before).

The seats now have a central ‘spine’ on the lower back area and there are full-colour GR logos embroidered on the headrests. The GR logo also appears on the steering wheel bottom spoke (was empty) and key fob (was ‘Corolla Cross’).

Overall, the additions are on point for a GR Sport flagship variant – simple yet sporty. UMWT says that these updates ‘respond directly to evolving customer expectations, offering greater presence, comfort, and engagement while preserving the efficiency and ease of ownership that define Toyota’s hybrid vehicles’.

Best of all, there’s no change in pricing, which remains at RM148,800 on-the-road without insurance. The full gallery of the 2025 version is below for you to compare.

The Corolla Cross Hybrid comes with a 1.8L 2ZR-FXE four-cylinder NA engine running on the Atkinson cycle. The 98 PS/142 Nm ICE is mated with a 72 PS/163 Nm electric motor for 122 PS total system output. A hybrid-specific E-CVT sends power to the front wheels. There are two other variants of the CC below the GR-S – the 1.8V and 1.8 HEV with the same powertrain but without the sporty add-ons – see them here.

But not safe to buy. Once buy tesla, in long term will have more problems where lots of recall issues nowadays unlike this brand. Plus, with toyota features and spec is good enough too and better safety than tesla.

Sorry but rather get used bmw/merc, even expensive to maintain and also can’t beat toyota/lexus reliability but at least cheaper than maintaining/repairing than tesla in long term. Even can also get recon lexus/new lexus, which is better for long term maintaining/repairing than tesla

    • Then why many people buy toyota when toyota spec and safety is good especially inside out, yet more durable and toyota have better aftersales than proton though both proton and toyota are good

Are all these facelift and bodykits still relevant in this era? Maybe back in 2000? What does some piece of plastic attachment do? And please, get rid of your Harrier and bring in the Crown.
