Overview
The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is BMW’s C-segment, five-seat petrol sedan, now in second-generation F74 form. It suits buyers after a compact BMW four-door rather than a larger 3 Series, with front-wheel drive and a dual-clutch automatic. Malaysian prices start at RM173,800 for the 218 Sport.
2 Series Gran Coupe in 2026 — what's new
F74 entered Malaysia in 2025 and carries into 2026 unchanged; there is no 2026-specific mechanical or equipment revision. The local line-up remains the 218 Sport and 218 Gran Coupe M Sport, both with a 1,499 cc petrol engine producing 156 hp, front-wheel drive and a wet dual-clutch automatic. Thailand also gets a 220 M Sport Pro with a 2.0-litre turbo engine, but that is not part of the Malaysian range.

Which variant to buy
Most Malaysian buyers should take the RM173,800 218 Sport. It has the same 1,499 cc, 156 hp petrol drivetrain, front-wheel drive, wet dual-clutch automatic and five-seat layout as the RM192,800 218 Gran Coupe M Sport. On paper, you are paying RM19,000 more for M Sport trim rather than mechanicals; check the exact equipment list before spending the extra money.

Verdict
The 2 Series Gran Coupe asks a premium for a compact BMW badge. Even the entry 218 costs more than the Proton S70, BYD Seal 6, Aion ES, Peugeot 408 and Dongfeng 007, and is also slightly dearer than the BYD Seal. The original 2 Series Gran Coupe did better than expected, and the F74 continues the formula with a five-seat petrol sedan layout.
