Verdict

The Proton Saga P2-14A is the more complete daily driver. Its 1.5-litre engine produces 118 hp and 150 Nm against the P2-13A Facelift’s 94 hp and 120 Nm, while the four-speed automatic, stability control, hill-start assist and reversing camera take much of the strain out of town use. The RM6,590 gap also brings LED projector headlamps and keyless push-button start. But the P2-13A Facelift keeps the same 420-litre boot, 2,465 mm wheelbase and 40-litre tank, so a buyer happy to shift gears manually is not giving up the fundamentals.
