Which variant to buy

Most buyers should choose the RM448,000 Vellfire 2.5 if the priority is the lowest entry cost. Its 2,494 cc petrol engine makes 180 hp and drives the front wheels through a CVT. The RM549,900 Hybrid Electric Executive Lounge costs RM101,900 more, bringing a 2,487 cc petrol-electric system rated at 365 hp and an eCVT. Pay the extra only if hybrid power and Executive Lounge trim matter more than the substantial price gap.

Verdict

The Vellfire remains a focused executive MPV: seven seats, front-wheel drive and a cabin pitched as a VIP lounge. The GA-K version of Toyota’s TNGA platform underpins this generation. Its RM448,000 starting point is higher than the GWM Wey G9, Zeekr 009 and GAC M8, while sitting just below the Mercedes-Benz EQV’s entry price. The hybrid flagship also costs slightly more than the Toyota Alphard’s starting price.
