Car Buyer's Guide

Overview

The Mitsubishi Xforce is a B-segment SUV for buyers wanting a new locally assembled petrol crossover with five seats, front-wheel drive and a CVT. Launched in Malaysia for 2026, it uses a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine producing 104 hp. Prices start from RM109,980, placing it close to the Omoda Jaecoo J5 and Mazda CX-3.

Xforce in 2026 — what's new

The Malaysian Xforce is a new 2026 generation, launched as a CKD model in Urban and Ultimate forms. It carries through 2026 unchanged from its launch specification, with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, 104 hp, front-wheel drive and CVT. An Xforce HEV has launched in Indonesia as a locally built hybrid, but Malaysia’s range remains petrol-only. Initial demand is strong: 2,600 bookings arrived before launch, while 900 units were delivered in the first month.

Which variant to buy

Urban is the sensible choice for most buyers at RM109,980. It has the same 1,499 cc 104 hp petrol engine, front-wheel drive, CVT and five-seat layout as the Ultimate. The Ultimate costs RM119,980, so the RM10,000 gap does not buy more power or a different drivetrain. Pay more only after checking that its trim and equipment list contains features you genuinely want; on paper, the mechanical package is identical.

Verdict

The Xforce enters Malaysia as a straightforward locally assembled petrol B-SUV, rather than a hybrid, and early interest is clear: it was Malaysia’s top-selling non-national compact SUV in April. Its entry price is RM1,980 higher than the Omoda Jaecoo J5 and RM2,060 above the Mazda CX-3, but RM3,820 below the Nissan Kicks e-Power. The Urban’s shared mechanicals make it the cleaner starting point.
