Ride-hailing company Bolt, which is headquartered in Estonia, has obtained a licence from the land public transport agency (APAD) to operate in Malaysia. As per APAD’s list dated October 9, 2024, Bolt Services MY joins 33 other licenced e-hailing companies allowed to operate here.
On the Bolt app (iOS and Android), there is now a notification indicating a launch will take place soon. At present, the company has a presence in five continents across over 50 countries, including Thailand, which is its first Southeast Asian market – Malaysia is poised to become the second.
According to the company’s official website, services that will be offered include ride-on-demand, food delivery, groceries delivery, car sharing, micromobility vehicle rentals as well as business travel.
Bolt’s arrival in Malaysia was first hinted back in March when the company posted a job listing for a country manager. A recruitment page for Malaysian drivers was launched soon after
