Proton eMas 5 launched in Singapore – same specs as Malaysia; Premium only priced at RM495k with COE

After being previewed at this year’s Singapore Motorshow in January, the Proton eMas 5 has now officially gone on sale in the island republic. Launched at The Car Expo which took place over the recent weekend, the eMas 5 is the brand’s second electric vehicle (EV) offering after the eMas 7 that marked the brand’s return to the country last September – a detuned version has since been introduced.

Authorised distributor Vincar Group is offering the eMas 5 in a sole Premium variant priced at SGD159,988 (about RM495k), inclusive of guaranteed COE (Certificate of Entitlement), with bookings made during the event receiving a SGD5,000 (RM15.5k) discount. Buyers will also get a 10-year battery warranty and five years of data roaming coverage across Singapore and Malaysia, plus cross-border warranty support.

In terms of specifications, the eMas 5 Premium sold in Singapore is identical to the one we have here. Powering the EV is a 40.16-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that provides up to 325 km of range following the WLTP standard. This supports AC charging at up to 6.6 kW (10-100% in 5.9 hours), while DC charging peaks at 71 kW (30-80% in 21 minutes).

The battery drives a rear electric motor rated at 116 PS (114 hp or 85 kW) and 150 Nm of torque, which means the eMas 5 meets the Category A COE requirement of EVs with a maximum motor output of up to 150 PS (148 hp or 110 kW). At the time of writing, the price of a Category A COE following the first bidding exercise of May 2026 is SGD124,790 (RM386k), about 1.4% higher than before.

Standard kit includes automatic LED headlamps, a powered tailgate, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, leatherette seat upholstery, keyless entry and start, six speakers, automatic air-conditioning with rear vents, a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, six airbags and an ADAS suite.

Colour options are identical too, including Moonstone White, Graphite Silver, Slate Grey, Marble Cream and Quartz Rose, all with a black roof for a two-tone look. Meanwhile, the interior comes in either Flint Grey or Alabaster White (with Quartz Rose exterior only).

  • It’s been said a million times. Yet your holier-than-thou writer, editor, and journalists still do it.

There is no need and no point to convert foreign currency. No need. No point. State it in SGD or the local currency

    • This. What’s the point of conversion really? Even at 1-1, they can still get it without our ridiculous 9 years loan tenure, if they choose to.

Only fools would pay rm400k for tax to own an rm60k car. Such greed. Every household deserves to have 1 car free of this bogus COE.
