The weekend is here, and just in case you’re relaxing in a supine position wondering about the Jaecoo J5 and its attractive RM108k price tag, we’ve got you covered in our latest video review.
This B-segment SUV takes more than a few cues from a certain Solihull-based 4×4 brand – whether that’s bad or good depends on how you see it. Under the bonnet is the Chery Tiggo Cross Turbo‘s blown 1.5 litre four-cylinder engine (147 PS and 210 Nm of torque), but here you get a CVT instead of the Chery’s DCT. 0-100 km/h is done in 10.2 seconds; top speed is 175 km/h.
In what may be a first for the Malaysian market, the J5 is marketed as a ‘pet-friendly’ vehicle (TÜV-certified, no less) – it’s got anti-bacterial and scratch-resistant faux leather upholstery with low volatile organic compounds. Accessories such as nets, mats and pet carriers are available.
Versus the Proton X50, the J5 is the same length, 65 mm wider, 41 mm taller, has a 20 mm longer wheelbase and a 150-litre bigger boot. But size isn’t everything… is it. So for the full lowdown, hit Play and let Hafriz Shah take you through the popular J7‘s adik.

smart buyers will topup extra RM40k for suzuki fronx because everyone knows japanese cars have better resale value
100k car top up 40k?
Cant understand this shopping logic.
Japanese….u ate too much seaweed abalone. Dont be blind. Nowadays, china cars is making jap car look like tin kosong.
Not gonna happen, there is no such thing as ‘Good Resale Value” for cars that exceed than rm100k, be it toyota or honda. Good example is toyota camry xv70, after 2-3 years, 50% price is gone, got real la mister.
Malaysia don’t need this overpriced Hybrid. Just buy Proton or Perodua Hybrid is much better because we must be patriotic. Hopefully Johari and MITI can block this Hybrid from entering Malaysia.
when the vios and city full spec is less fun than the Myvi 1.5L
it’s a good upgrade yet cheaper.
In your dreams. Junk like myvi can never compare with the mighty Vios. Move aside and smell my smoke.
If you want a powerful 4 door Toyota, you migh need to get the 4 door Camry 2.5L 8.9s 9.5km/L city driving can smoke the Myvi 1.5L?
Vios is just a entry level car that only available in 3rd countries. Do you think it is a good car? Haha….

If pigs are so clean, you carry them in your car?
