GWM Tank 300 HEV launched in Malaysia: 2.0T hybrid, 346 PS/648 Nm, auto parking, app support, RM260k

The GWM Tank 300 HEV has been launched in Malaysia for RM259,800, which means the RM250k ICE car (over 1,000 buyers to date) that was launched here in July 2024 now has a hybrid brother in the country. The HEV has a 245 PS/380 Nm 2.0 litre turbo engine, a 106 PS/268 Nm electric motor, a 1.67-kWh ternary lithium battery and a nine-speed hybrid automatic transmission (ICE car has eight speeds). Its 346 PS/648 Nm total output eclipses our ICE car’s 220 PS/380 Nm.

You get full-time four-wheel drive, front and rear locking diffs, tank turn, crawl control mode with a 66% max climbing degree, a 700-mm max wading depth, all-terrain progress control with seven modes – Normal, Eco, Sport, Snow, Mud, Sand, and 4L (ICE car has nine modes; 2H and 4H are missing here). Departure, ramp and approach angles are respectively 34-, 23- and 33-degrees – same as the ICE car.

Also like the ICE car, the HEV has auto air-con with rear vents, powered front seats with driver’s seat massage, faux Nappa leather upholstery, nine Infinity speakers, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a sunroof and 64-colour ambient lighting. But the HEV has auto parking and app support, which the ICE car doesn’t have.

The app can lock/unlock the doors, close the windows and sunroof, turn on/off the air-con and/or seat ventilation, tell you that your fuel is low and/or your 12V battery is low as well as show tyre temperatures and pressures, mileage, range, fuel level and vehicle location.

Like the ICE car, the HEV has six airbags and full ADAS including AEB and ACC. The HEV exclusively gets the Sand Beige body colour you see here (you can also choose Crystal Black or Pearl White) and 17-inch black alloys with all-terrain tyres. The signature orange exterior colour and 18-inch two-tone alloys have now become ICE car-only items.

The GWM Tank 300 HEV offers a lifetime engine and transmission warranty (only for first-hand private owners), an eight-year/180,000 km power battery warranty and a six-year vehicle and HEV system warranty with unlimited mileage. You also get five years’ free maintenance (labour and parts included) and five years’ free L2 vehicle telematics. Existing GWM owners enjoy RM3,000 off the car’s price.

thumbs up – pay RM260 for this state of the art commie car with massive space, advanced features, powerful drivetrain, low fuel consumption.
thumbs down – pay same price for mercedes GLA200 with tiny interior space, mediocre features, kosong specs, and puny 1.4 renault engine. because mercedes has prestige and glamour

based on number of thumbs down, a lot of foolish buyers prefer conti car with kosong specs and puny drivetrain . these are the type of fools who spend RM200k on a bmw 218i with 3-cylinder engine.
