The Kedah road transport department (JPJ) has seized a Mercedes-Benz that a 38-year old Bangladeshi vegetable farmer has been using in Langkawi since May 27, 2025, Bernama reports.
“The man was detained while transporting vegetables to be sold to a third party at a wet market in Padang Matsirat. During questioning, he claimed the vehicle belonged to him but did not disclose the actual price he paid for it.
“Checks revealed that he did not have a valid driving licence, while the motor vehicle licence (road tax) had expired and the vehicle had no insurance coverage, which lapsed on July 26,” state JPJ director Stien Van Lutam said in a statement.
“Kedah JPJ reminds the public that owning a luxury vehicle does not mean one is immune to the law. Every driver and vehicle on the road must comply with the stipulated regulations,” he added.

sial punya gomen. bangkla need roadtax insurance for what? its not that they are liable for any road accidents involving them. they are king.
RM6k on the used car market is luxury?
Sounds pretty condescending to use nationality, race, color etc to question how they own a vehicle. Stick to the law of requiring license, road tax but the rest are none of their business. He doesn’t need to answer anything to anything on how he paid for it. Especially a very old used Merc that goes for probably under or ~10K. The only important piece here is the lack of valid license and road tax the rest is pathetic.
Did not know we have a Dutch as our JPJ Director. Can we soon have Trump to replace our ineffective PM?
did you know that we have a bangla reader that thought JPJ director is a Dutch?
wait for next GE – you can do that in the next GE.. unless you are still holding that fake IC which prevents you from buying RM1.99/L RON95..
Cameron Highland most 4×4 also without valid license or roadtax.. guess our local driver will have to claim personal insurance if every encounter accident with these foreigners
If you have to know, most 4×4 in Cameron Highlands with plate “CH” need not pay roadtax as they are exempted from JPJ roadtax structure. These vehicles are meant for farmers use, hence they have been excluded from paying for roadtax. However, they still required to have valid insurance.
