Overview
The Hyundai Tucson is a five-seat C-segment SUV for buyers who want a petrol, all-wheel-drive or petrol-hybrid powertrain in one model line. The NX4 facelift generation launched in 2025, and the range starts from RM159,800 for the 1.6T Prime. Its 1.6-litre turbo engine and wet dual-clutch automatic are common ground across the range.
Tucson in 2026 — what's new
For 2026, the Tucson is locally assembled and its range is priced from around RM160,000 to RM190,000 following reductions of up to RM8,000. The 2.0-litre naturally aspirated version is discontinued, leaving three 1.6-litre turbo choices: the front-wheel-drive Prime, the Prestige AWD and the 242 hp Prestige Hybrid. The NX4 facelift remains the current Tucson in Malaysia.
Which variant to buy
Most buyers should start with the RM159,800 1.6T Prime. It has the same 178 hp 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine, wet dual-clutch automatic and five-seat layout as the RM179,800 1.6T Prestige AWD, while keeping RM20,000 in hand. Pay for the Prestige AWD if all-wheel drive is a genuine requirement. The RM189,800 1.6T Prestige Hybrid is the power choice, with 242 hp and front-wheel drive, but it costs RM30,000 more than the Prime. Check the equipment list before paying extra for Prestige trim.
Verdict
The Tucson now makes more sense than the earlier RM196,000 turbo flagship, helped by lower locally assembled pricing and a simpler 1.6-litre-only range. It is still not a budget C-segment SUV: the Prime costs far more than the Proton eMas 7, Proton X70 and Jetour Dashing, though it undercuts the Xpeng G6 by RM148. Choose it for its available AWD or 242 hp hybrid options, not because it is the cheapest route into the class.
