Denza B8 launched in Malaysia – 2.0T PHEV 4×4, 612 PS/760 Nm, DiSus-P, 6 or 7 seats, RM459k to RM519k

After 15 months going it alone, the D9 MPV is finally no longer the only Denza you can buy in Malaysia, because this leviathan has arrived – the Denza B8. It’s available in seven-seat Dynamic and six-seat Premium variants, priced at RM458,800 and RM518,800 respectively. Add on-the-road costs and the prices become RM459,939 and RM519,939. GWM Tank 500, you’re no longer the most expensive Chinese car in Malaysia – this is. For now.

What this is, is a rebadged Bao 8, which is a flagship three-row body-on-frame 4×4 that BYD’s off-roader sub-brand Fangchengbao sells in China. At 5,195 mm long, 1,994 mm wide and 1,905 mm tall, with a 2,920 mm wheelbase, it’s bigger than the GWM Tank 500 in every way except height (which it equals). It’s even longer and wider than a Toyota Land Cruiser 300.

It’s a PHEV with BYD’s Dual Mode Off-road (DMO) Super Hybrid system. You get a longitudinally-mounted 197 PS/350 Nm 2.0 litre turbo four-cylinder engine, a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT), a 36.8-kWh Blade LFP battery (115 km NEDC EV range; about 100 km WLTP) and two electric motors (272 PS/360 Nm front + 408 PS/400 Nm rear). This 3,290 kg behemoth can do 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds thanks to a 612 PS/760 Nm total system output.

Denza B8 launched in Malaysia – 2.0T PHEV 4×4, 612 PS/760 Nm, DiSus-P, 6 or 7 seats, RM459k to RM519k

Like most Chinese PHEVs, battery power is used exclusively until there is around 25% SoC remaining, when the engine wakes up and goes to work to keep the battery pack at this state of charge. The system operates seamlessly across Pure EV, HEV Series and Parallel driving modes.

The combined range is 1,040 km NEDC (nearly 900 km WLTP) thanks to a massive 91 litre tank (GWM Tank 500: 75 litres), and Denza claims as low as 9.89 litres/100 km (10 km/l) NEDC fuel consumption.

Charge it at 120 kW DC (yes!) and you’ll go from 30-80% in 16 minutes. The max AC charging rate is 11 kW and there’s 6.6 kW vehicle-to-load (V2L). The DiSus-P hydraulic suspension provides 140 mm of ride height adjustment, which not only boosts the wading depth to 890 mm from the standard 800 but increases approach and departure angles from 30 and 29 to 34 and 35 degrees respectively.

Denza B8 launched in Malaysia – 2.0T PHEV 4×4, 612 PS/760 Nm, DiSus-P, 6 or 7 seats, RM459k to RM519k

The suspension can be raised or lowered from the boot area, but you’ll have to swing open the side-opening tailgate (which houses the spare tyre) manually. By the way, there’s a parking sensor on the spare tyre cover, so it can detect obstacles higher up. It’s also got ‘leopard turn’, which is what Denza calls tank turn.

Less off-roader-y items are the gloss black body cladding and hidden door handles, but they add a touch of urban class. China’s Bao 8 has 21-inch alloys, but we get these blacked-out 20-inch Y-spokers with 275/55 Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres. To these eyes, the Denza B8 is an imposing thing that’s not over-styled. It’s actually quite restrained in terms of design, which is hard to come by these days. Anyway, its size alone turns enough heads.

No matter the variant, you get four soft-close doors, a 12.3-inch instrument panel, a 17.3-inch touch-screen, (China’s Bao 8 has also a 12.3-inch front passenger touch-screen), twin 50W wireless chargers, heated and cooled armrest storage (basically a fridge), tri-zone air-con, powered front seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions, 18 Devialet speakers (first time Malaysia’s getting this French audio brand in a car) and a gear selector that rises when the car is started.

Six-seater with Jasper Brown interior (left), seven-seater with Onyx Black interior

A multi-function switch on the rear doors lets occupants open or close either the window on the other side or the sunroof blind, and they can even activate a one-touch recline function that pushes the front passenger seat forwards for extra legroom. The second and third rows can both be folded and raised electrically.

Here’s how the variants differ – the seven-seater adopts a 2-3-2 layout (with a power-reclining middle row bench that’s both heated and ventilated) while the six-seater has a 2-2-2 layout (middle-row captain seats with massage, ventilation and Ottomans; Nappa leather throughout). Max boot space is 920 litres on the seven-seater and 902 on the six-seater; it’s 147 litres for both with all seats up.

Only the six-seater has infrared night vision, front and rear locking diffs (seven-seater only has rear locking diff), a digital rear-view mirror, a head-up display, front seat power extendable thighs, front seat dynamic side bolsters and second-row foot ambient lighting.

Denza B8 Malaysia price list and spec sheet – click to enlarge

You can have your Denza B8 in Alpine White, Emerald Green, Nebula Blue, Dawn Gold or Eclipse Black, and your interior in either Jasper Brown or Onyx Black, regardless of the body colour chosen. Safety? Nine airbags (including front-centre airbag) and full ADAS including AEB and ACC.

Warranties? Six years/150,000 km on the vehicle, eight years/160,000 km on the high-voltage battery and drive unit (motor, motor controller, motor controller with DC assembly and high-voltage electric control assembly). You also get seven times’ free maintenance service over six years worth RM10,000 and a free V2L adapter worth RM700.

By the way, the two cars displayed here are Australian spec – customer cars won’t have the rear tow hitch, heated seats and steering wheel. The Premium is pretty much the highest spec available outside China, which is the only market that gets LiDAR. Auto side steps could be offered as an official accessory later.

China has surpassed everyone in this world? uhh, since when? Based on what data? They do lead in some sectors but definitely nowhere near all? Medical? Space tech? Don’t tell me you believe in all their military toys? I work in the oil and gas sector, and up until today, there is not a single Chinese equipment sold or used in the oil and gas industry anywhere in the world. In fact, China buys european and american gas turbines and turbo machinery. Till today, China has not been able to build a reliable gas turbine even for their stealth planes. The engines used is a copy of the Russian gas turbine and is highly unreliable.

I am sure Huawei users are nowhere anywhere near the number of users of Samsung and Apple. Corolla Cross launched and acquired 2298 bookings in 2 weeks. So, your argument is still not convincing. The only reason China cars are attractive is because they are undercutting their price and profit. If sold at market price, they will not receive the same response. https://searssabrina.netlify.app/2026/05/21/2026-toyota-yaris-cross-gets-2298-bookings-within-two-weeks-of-launch/

How sure are you that this is not another gimmick junk? How many decades of history does this carry? Are you implying that the people who gave us the Patrol, Land Cruiser, Pajero, Bronco etc have no clue on what they have been doing the last 50 yrs and suddenly, CCP has figured out a solution to all the problems to car making overnight? You’re comparing a body-on-frame 4×4 to fast monocoque SUV. How does that make sense? Are you saying this CCP 4×4 handles better than the BMW/Merc, more reliable than a Land Cruiser and performs better than a Lamborghini Urus? Sounds like a typical CCP junk. There is a reason responsible car manufacturers don’t offer anything under the sky in a product. It’s all related to reliability and maintainability. We had vehicles which can traverse in water and rough terrain since WW2, primarily used by the military, but require strict and frequent maintenance. The reason all these are never offered in a civilian vehicle is due to maintainability. However, CCP just throws in everything with endless promises. You CCP worshippers are the ones claiming all these junks are better than anything ever made.

You are always welcome to buy Japanese makes, or other legacy car makers. If you have been to China, I will tell you, u will shit in your pants and shut the fuck up. It’s not just the vehicle, its an entire ecosystem. Again, get your XC90 by all means and you are welcome to suffer the neverending problems. Might i suggest you get a RM 1,000,000.00 Japanese Lexus LX instead of the mere 500k Volvo XC 90. The LX will have less issues. But if you dont know, dont comment or say. You are just plain Stupid. China is a country with no respect for intellectual property, get that into your brains first. You’re one rude uneducated Chinaman whise arguments are based on your patriotism towards CCP. Any learnt individual will easily grasp my point, but not for you unfortunately as you are unable to think analytically. I’ve worked around the world apart from China, so sorry for my lack of experience, but jist because you bonked some GRO in aspa in Cina, doesn’t make you a technical specialist. The point here is very simple, the tech offered in this CCP car has inherent properties that wiill eventually cause it to fail, that’s law of physics and no matter how China is developed, you cannot change that. If it will fail in a continental car, it will fail in a ccp car, no exceptions. Worst part is this junk is a combination of all the techs used and failed in cars before. Citroen had hydraulic suspension 50yrs back, able to do what this car does, there’s many continental 4×4 that has fancy features but will eventually fail so will this ccp junk. And what’s the point of having such high acceleration and horsepower? Can a 4×4 magically race like an M5 just because its from China, but of course, you will never understand.. Japanese engineers are one of the smartest i have worked with, and they definitely know what they are doing, they sell a Lexus to last, deliver their promise and honor it till the end. This junk doesn’t even have original spares or after market parts, neither does their own service center capable of supporting this vehicle, because they never intended to maintain the product line longer than 3 – 5yrs. Anyway, you wouldn’t understand. Please get back to your kongsi meeting.

            1. Citroen hydraulic suspension 50yrs back failed because their tech wasnt mature yet. china manufacturing today is far more hightech and matured . for example look at their battery charging tested to ten thousand cycles without failing.
            2. the point of having high acceleration is a unique selling point to prove that their tech is superior to competitors. and of course hgih power helps since the car with passengers combined weights 3.5 tons.
            3. japs are liars and scammers. we still remember how they lied about their millions of deadly takata airbags which killed hundreds of people. they released comtaminated radioactive wastewater into the pacific ocean.

Its nearby 1.5x more expensive than in Auatralia , let alone compared to China. Right now, China even has the updated b8 with ultra suspension and lightning charging as well as longer range of battery.

This car is also well known for its electric cut off during drive, less than 2 years suspension leaking as well as slow responsive infotainment screen due to Huawei chips.

Malaysia did not even offer 24/7 denza services to the car like in China where they will actually save you in the off road. If this car price around GWM 500 or slightly higher is still acceptable , now for 6 seats ( old spec ) Rm500k ++? Surely the price will be 50% after a year for a hybrid.

With these prices, this car will be very rare and exclusive on our roads.

The price is 150k higher than it should be imo.

people start buying cheap china cars because they are cheap and feel luxury, if you sell at 400+k why dont I get the real luxury cars like mercedes or porsche.

Once the name is on the car, your business will automatically terminate. The car is not price at Myvi.
