Oil companies can start selling Euro 4 and Euro 5 fuels in Malaysia earlier than the gazetted dates – MITI

SONY DSC

While the updated timeline for the introduction of upgraded fuels in Malaysia was revealed in parliament recently – Euro 4 RON 97 in September 2015, Euro 4 RON 95 in October 2018, Euro 5 diesel in September 2020, Euro 5 RON 95 and RON 97 in September 2025 – it has now been announced that oil companies can start selling such fuels earlier than the gazetted dates.

They are more than welcome to do so, in fact, according to Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Hamim Samuri. “Fuel producers are encouraged to sell (Euro 4 and Euro 5) earlier to maintain the quality of the environment,” he was quoted as saying in a report by The Sun.

BHPetrol has already pulled such a move, as it introduced Euro 5 diesel fuel in Johor last week – a good six years ahead of schedule. The fully-imported (from Singapore) Infiniti Euro 5 Diesel is sold at a regulated price of RM2.30 per litre – 10 sen more than regular Euro 2M diesel – and is only available at selected stations in the state.

Add another reason why MITI should be abolish. Stupid comments as always.

Country produce petroleum but still using out-dated fuel “quality”.
      Corruption must be stop.

The implementation of Euro 5 in Johor is not driven by the Oil Producer to provide a better fuel quality to consumer or what so call 6 years implementation ahead schedule.

It is driven by the regulation from Singapore to meet the more stringent Euro 5 in their country. Hence, our current logistic transportation will be impacted due to Euro 2 fuel.

Due to no other choice, we selected Some petrol station in Johor to cater for this purpose.

If so implemented in Johor for Euro 5 diesel, why don’t the government or oil producer to introduce in other states? why only Johor? If not because of the requirement from Singapore, what do you think the government will introduce Euro 5 now?

Also the oil producer is business minded. is the government to implement and execute the policy for a greener environment

      Thanks to Singapore.
if not, we are forced to use deterior grade diesel.
Break diesel engine, high pollution, poor economy!

      Euro 5 diesel are welcome!
We could get better diesel car!
      Better mileage, less maintainance.

yeah, but i don’t see any incentive for oil companies to do it.

it’s not like they can set the price to be much higher than normal diesel/petrol.

plus, even if they could mark it higher, not much demand for it anyway outside of major city center.

Just intro Euro 5 across the country and take away all the subsidy. Let the market determine the fuel price like others country, Thailand , maybe..

Reduce all the cars excise duty with at least RM30k, and nobody will bother the government about the fuel subsidy anymore, even the fuel price has to fluctuate according to market rate.

Things get delayed because the manufacturing industry requests so. Increasing the fuel grade will add unnecessary energy costs. To some of you get to know the big picture instead of blaming the government.
