Stationary cars rammed by a lorry, again. This time, eleven vehicles were damaged when a trailer lorry crashed into them at a traffic light intersection in Shah Alam. Specifically, it happened noon yesterday at the Persiaran Tengku Ampuan traffic lights, in front of the McDonald’s Section 22 drive-through outlet.
Fortunately, no one was injured and all the owners of the cars involved went on to make police reports. Shah Alam district police chief Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said that investigations found that the trailer could not stop in time when the vehicle in front of it suddenly braked. He added that urine tests on the truck driver was negative for drugs and he had no previous criminal record.
“The case is being investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for dangerous driving. Witnesses are asked to assist investigations by contacting investigating officer inspector Muhammad Hasrul Suhiami at 011-31215697,” he said, reported by Sinar Harian, which posted the image above.
Sounds familiar? Last month, a lorry ploughed into queuing vehicles at the Causeway, Singapore-bound. Two weeks ago, there was an accident on the PLUS highway where a cement lorry crashed into some cars and skipped into the opposite direction. In April, at the infamous Menora tunnel stretch on the PLUS, a lorry with faulty brakes ploughed through five cars.
And of course, who can forget the one last year at Jalan Ipoh where a speeding lorry squashed a Myvi in front of the famous yong tau fu restaurant.

All lorry must be installed with Automatic Emergency Braking system (AEB). The governent must make it compulsory.

APAD and JPJ shall have stricter policy on commercial truck. They should ban truck to be road worthy with age more than 15 years old. More frequent puspakom inspection for age 8 years onward.
Add speed limiters to all these heavy vehicles including buses.

Agreed. What is the purpose of the sticker behind the lorry stated 80/90kmh if none of them follow? Instead of just pushing for better tech for cars, plz enhance the tech of lorries. They are the real threat on the road! Tailgating, speeding, etc. Those companies shld learn from the jpnese & conduct daily check on the driver as well. I watched a youtube on japan transport worker, they conduct check on driver (alcohol blowing test) and driver need to chk the condition of the vehicle before they go out. Plz gment, do something!!

Some crony need to supply the sticker and SIRIM needs to also approve the sticker validity. It creates an economy. From no work, at least got some work la. Kasi chan la.

NOT every 6 months, buy whichever comes first.

The lorry carrying max 60 tons load is a killing machine if the break malfunction. We have seen it many times. What must the MOT and Minister do to prevent this? MCA Minister Wee KS is very passive. I prefer Anthony anytime.

Lorry driver drive like saloon car mentality.
Didn’t observe the distance gap between vehicle, due to lack of understanding of momentum of heavy vehicle. Transport minister didn’t do their jobs thoroughly.
In the modern era, traffic light timing still old system, so as toll. Police and JPJ officers duties more on finding fault on petty mistakes and parking kind of loophole, though the road does not obstruct the traffic. Too much room need to be improved, hope for new government to look all this matter.
MACC should do something about Puspakom. The corruption inside is so bad. Commoners like us can see lorries going uphill spewing a huge trail of black smoke. This shouldn’t happen as all commercial vehicles are subjected to inspections every 6 months .
And JPJ together with Puspakom should do random spot check on these commercial vehicles . We know they only use new tyres to go for inspection, right after they pass, they will switch back to using old tyres.
