Having revealed the car in full earlier this week, Proton has now announced that the new Saga will be open for booking on Monday, November 10. As with the eMas 5, the national carmaker will kickstart order-taking with a live broadcast on Facebook and TikTok, where we will hopefully learn the estimated pricing.
As a recap, the new Saga is built on a revised version of its predecessor’s platform and body structure, now known as the Advanced Modular Architecture (AMA). The big news is the BHE15-CFN 1.5 litre naturally-aspirated and port-injected four-cylinder with what Proton calls Intelligent Green Technology (i-GT), running on an Atkinson cycle and coming with a timing chain and an electric water pump.
Outputs are rated at 120 PS at 6,100 rpm and 150 Nm of torque between 4,000 and 5,000 rpm – healthy increases of 25 PS and 30 Nm over the outgoing Saga 1.3. It is mated to either an Aisin four-speed automatic on the Standard and Executive variant and a Punch CVT on the top-spec Premium, the latter delivering a 14.04% improvement in fuel efficiency and a combined consumption figure of 4.9 litres per 100 km.
Going hand-in-hand with the mechanical changes is a significant exterior makeover, consisting of a new front fascia with available LED projector headlights, L-shaped daytime running lights connected to a chrome Ethereal Bow bar and a large full-width Sulaman Songket-inspired grille. Meanwhile, the rear features new LED taillights that provide a visual link to the S70, with the Premium additionally gaining full-width lamps.
The comprehensive redesign continues on the inside with a more modern horizontal dashboard design, congkak board-shaped air vents and a wave pattern on the dash and doors. A new widescreen display panel houses a seven-inch digital instrument display and a nine-inch infotainment touchscreen, the latter with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety-wise, the Saga benefits from the AMA’s new electrical architecture, enabling the fitment of six airbags and advanced driver assists for the first time. The latter includes autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, rear collision warning, rear cross traffic alert, a door opening warning and auto high beam. These features will only be offered on the Premium, however.
You can find out more details in our comprehensive breakdown of the Executive and Premium models, including brief drive impressions of the CVT-equipped Premium. You’ll be able to check out the car up close yourself at the paultan.org Auto Car Expo (ACE) this weekend, November 8 and 9 at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC).

look at that glare…….
The front look does not match the center and rear
For those not knowing, electric water pump is nothing new for car engines. VW had them some 15 years ago in as many models back then.
So?
VW also had dry double clutch gearbox 15 years ago, we all know how badly that turned out
It even has a large infotainment display. I’m impressed!
Must be a standard variant with analogue meter haven’t show up isn’t it??
Persona mc with new engine next?
I’m also hoping for this. Similar to S70 exec
Back of the car still jack up design
Everything seems improved except Punch CVT wanna punch out.
The new Saga looks like it would be a winner.. that is.. until they decided to go Punch CVT..
Why can’t they just use other CVT in the market, or even their own outdated 4speeder? Sad.. Proton never learns.. wonder who’s crony is this awful punch
